Kelsey Burgess
Kelsey Burgess
Kelsey has dedicated her public accounting career to Weinstein Spira, joining the firm 10 years ago. Initially hired to specialize in Employee Benefit Plans, Kelsey has become a specialist in the hospitality industry for corporate clients. She is known for her teaching skills and her ability to connect with younger staff, proudly serving as a mentor and reliable resource for developing professionals.
She excels as a project manager and builds strong, personable relationships with clients. She is actively involved in the social aspects of the firm and takes great pride in her EBP work, from training and developing staff to handling complex audit areas and implementing new industry guidance. Her favorite part of the job is mentoring others and helping them balance their personal and professional lives, as well as finding innovative ways for employees to connect.
Client success and appreciation are Kelsey's main motivators. She values making connections with clients, ensuring they feel comfortable reaching out at any time of the year. One of her most rewarding experiences has been working with a hospitality client on their benefit plan for 10 years. This led to additional corporate audit work, where she navigated a CFO transition and a new accounting system implementation.
Kelsey looks forward to dedicating more time to reviewing work and developing early-career professionals. She aims to learn more about the firm’s operations and contribute to its reputation as a top firm that young accountants can seek out to build a career. Recently, Kelsey moved back to Michigan to be closer to her extended family. She spends most of her time playing with her two young daughters, enjoys baking (despite the messiness), and loves traveling, especially to Paris.
